Before Lighty could be obtained, the researchers working on the project needed to know the precise dimensions of both the large and small lighthouses, to ensure that the screens and lighting elements would fit – cue an epic quest around Southampton to locate an existing lighthouse for measurement. This quest was carried out by DHBE’s Nic Green (also responsible for configuring the light to go inside Lighty) and culminated in the discovery of this beautiful lighthouse outside Southampton hospital.
On 1st Feb Nic then managed to get access to a little lighthouse by attending the little lighthouse launch event. Several weeks later Adriana and Nic embarked on another epic quest to collect Lighty, after which the lighthouse was brought safely to the mechanical workshop within the university (see ‘where is Lighty currently?’)
